SNOW has entered Closed Beta! Here is a list of what's new. Please note that since the update is massive, not every change is listed here but instead a high level list of new features.

Features:

  • New user interface: overhauled visual interface, including menus and HUD
  • Purchasable clothing: clothing and equipment can now be purchased in the SNOW store
  • Events: players can now take part in single-player events that challenge them to complete the goals
  • Improved physics implementation: we have done a large pass on our skiing physics, and continue to push towards more realistic and intuitive movement
  • Replay manager: session are now automatically recorded and can be recorded and viewed
  • Continue functionality: the previous continue integration has been replaced to utilize the new replay system, allowing players to rewind after a crash and rethink their decisions
  • Ski lifts: the mountain has been populated with ski lifts, a feature that will later on be usable by the players to get up the slopes
  • Drone: the player can now take control of a drone in order to get a wider view of their surroundings
  • Improved riding sounds: we have done additional work on our skiing sounds, in order to create a more immersive experience
  • Main menu music: we now have our own main menu soundtrack, with a much lighter and more relaxing tone than the gameplay music used for the menu in 0.4
  • Gameplay options: we have populated the new options menus with a bunch of graphical, sound and gameplay options that allow the player to tweak the experience
  • Improved ski trails: we have gone through our ski trail implementation and addressed a wide range of problems. In the future we'll be doing additional passes to improve the visual look of the trails
  • Stability improvements: we have gone through most of our systems in order to provide additional stability for the game, in order to ensure that players can play seamlessly. We'll be continuously monitoring this area with 0.5.x updates
  • Performance improvements: we have been busy investigating and resolving plenty of performance issues, in order to get a more steady experience across a wide range of hardware. This will be continuously worked on for all future updates, and is not considered final yet. A side effect of this is that we've officially dropped support for DirectX 10.0 cards with this update

Martin Stock

I think that it was easier to return and change the start point befor the update. Maby you can change this back?

Kevin van Highline

i cant do a backflip with my controller???

Will Doherty

is there any way to earn credits other than buying them?

Andrew Thistle

The game is now very messed up and hard to play. The turning physics are all messed up and just feel slow as if the this are skiing on molasses and not snow. Park is now near impossible and the credit system is just stupid. I hop this is just temporary. The game was great now it has been ruined

This update completely broke the game for me >.< Used to run on high @ 1080p 60fps no problem. Now getting horrible graphical artifacts and glitches. Large black objects with collision randomly appear in front of you constantly?

    Adrian Atkinson

The black meshes Steven is referencing is the rock texture that doesn't load properly on first boot-up this is causing clipping and low fps. If you are having this issue, try setting your settings to what they were @pre-update and restarting. This should fix this issue and the game should run at the same fps as it did @pre-update

This update completely broke the game for me >.< Used to run on high @ 1080p 60fps no problem. Now getting horrible fps with graphical artifacts and glitches. Large black objects with collision randomly appearing in front of you as well. The new physics feel slow and disconnected. Aside from the pretty new menus and animations the game is overall much worse than before. Why fix what isn't broken?

Kevin Oetiker

Does anybody know how to record in the game? To make gameplays or to share them here?

Pier-olivier Rousson

I have no start point and I buy games? (in the store)

Tanner Calcagno

Why would you add in app purchases for a game I bought. This isn't acceptable and makes me want to stop playing this game.

Adrian Atkinson

Nice Job Guys the update looks really good! For those of you having issues, set your setting to what they were pre-update and then restart and it should run smoothly once again. The black meshes Andrew is referencing is the rock texture that doesn't load properly on first boot-up and causing clipping and low fps. Remember restart with old settings first!

Miguel Guerrero

why!?!?!Why all objects of last update are not in our inventory ??this really a piece of shit -.-´

Herman Panda Hagen

With this update i feel like you've ruined a perfectly good game... I payed for this game, and the micro-transaction system is just plain stupid. This is not what i payed for. The alpha was better than this. Please listen to us players, and fix all the mistakes you've made!
